Undergraduate Philosophers Q&A

Q: When and why did you decide to major in philosophy?

A: I took a theory of knowledge class—it was a big paradigm shift in my way of thinking. When our professor talked about how reflection was the most important aspect of ordering everything else in your life, I started reflecting on things in my life—how I know things that I know and how I structure my life. If this is the way that philosophers think, I thought: “I’m going to figure out how to structure my own life.”

– Omar Castillo, Philosophy Major, Class of 2021
