Considering a career in academia after earning your Philosophy degree? Join us for a virtual career panel with UCLA Philosophy alumni who now have careers as professors of philosophy at CSU Northridge and Claremont McKenna College!
Kristina Meshelski (CSU Northridge) and Amy Kind (Claremont McKenna College) will discuss the paths they took to get where they are now, give tips and advice, and answer any specific questions you may have regarding a career as a professor of philosophy. Meet the Speakers
Amy Kind
Russell K. Pitzer Professor of Philosophy
Claremont McKenna College
Amy Kind is Russell K. Pitzer Professor of Philosophy at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, where she also serves as Director of the Gould Center for Humanistic Studies. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters on imagination, consciousness, and other topics in the philosophy of mind. She has also authored several textbooks, Persons and Personal Identity (Polity 2016) and Philosophy of Mind: The Basics (Routledge 2020), as well as a monograph on Imagination and Creative Thinking (Cambridge 2022). She has edited or co-edited several volumes, most recently Epistemic Uses of Imagination (Routledge 2021). At CMC, she teaches classes on philosophy of mind, metaphysics, imagination, and logic.
Kristina Meshelski
Professor and Department Chair, Philosophy
California State University, Northridge
Kristina Meshelski received her BA from UCLA in 2003, and her PhD from University of Virginia in 2011. She specializes in Social and Political Philosophy. She has published on Spinoza, John Rawls, affirmative action, nonideal theory, procedural justice, and housing policy. She is currently thinking about housing, territory, and property rights.
