Thomas E. Hill Jr., Kenan Distinguished Professor Emeritus at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and former Professor of Philosophy at UCLA (1968-1984) has died.
Tom was a leading moral philosopher and interpreter of Kant’s practical philosophy, writing extensively in ethics, the history of ethics, and political philosophy. As a teacher, his enormous well of kindness and gentleness, combined with his unwavering sense of the large and important questions in moral life, was unmatched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the philosophical community.
