We are excited to announce that Professor Vida Yao will officially join our faculty in July 2023. Professor Yao works in ethics, moral philosophy, and moral psychology. She has written on a wide range of topics, from her award-winning “Grace and Alienation” to a pair of papers on boredom, and another on “The Snares of Self-Hatred.” Alongside developing a conception of love which challenges dominant philosophical understandings of the self, one of Professor Yao’s future projects will focus on the circumstances of Asian-Americans, bringing together threads from her work on the philosophy of emotions with recent work by Asian-American philosophers on the philosophy of race and gender.
