at Professor Paul C. Taylor will officially join our faculty in July 2023 as the inaugural Presidential Professor of Philosophy. Professor Taylor works in race theory, aesthetics, pragmatism, social and political philosophy, and Africana philosophy. He is the author of the books Race: A Philosophical Introduction, On Obama, and the prize-winning book Black is Beautiful: A Philosophy of Black Aesthetics. He is currently working on a book project for Oxford on third-wave race-thinking, a book for Chicago called Dark Futures, and a Mellon-funded meta-study of DEI initiatives.
