Congratulations to Professors Sam Cumming, Gabe Greenberg, Pamela Hieronymi, and Sean Walsh who have been awarded funding by the Luskin Endowment for Thought Leadership for a conference on “Defeasible Inference in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence.” The award is shared with with Guy Van den Broeck and Carlo Zaniolo from Computer Science. Together, they will convene a conference  in Fall 2019 to discuss the many rich connections between philosophy and non-monotonic logics, particularly as concerns the resolution of inconsistencies and conflicts in rule-based systems.
