In Memoriam: Anand Vaidya

The UCLA Philosophy Department is saddened to mark the passing of Professor Anand Vaidya (1976-2024). Anand Jayprakash Vaidya was a professor of philosophy at San Jose State University and a visiting professor in the UCLA Philosophy department during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. He received his B.A. from UCLA in 1998 and maintained close ties to the department during his time at the UCSB graduate program and later as a professor at San Jose State University. 

Professor Vaidya worked in philosophy of mind, epistemology (especially the epistemology of modality), perception, logic, and critical thinking, among other areas, with an emphasis on cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary philosophy.
