Considering pursuing a PhD after earning your Philosophy degree? Join us for a virtual career panel with recent UCLA Philosophy alumni Elvie Lin, incoming PhD student in Philosophy at MIT, and Esther Ma, PhD student in Philosophy at University of Michigan, as they share tips and advice on the PhD application process.

 

If you’re interested in getting guidance from two recent UCLA Philosophy graduates on how to successfully navigate PhD applications, you won’t want to miss this session!

 

 

Meet the Speakers

 

Elvie (Xiaobin) Lin

Incoming PhD student in Philosophy at MIT

Elvie graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S. in mathematics in 2024. She will go on to MIT to pursue a PhD in Philosophy this September.

 

 

Esther Ma

PhD student in Philosophy at University of Michigan

Esther is a first-year PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Michigan. Her main interests in philosophy are in political philosophy, ethics, and decision theory. She attended Pasadena City College, and then transferred to UCLA and graduated with a B.A. in philosophy in 2023.
