Meet the Speakers

Alison Carroll, Executive and Internal Communications Lead, Google AI / Google Research

Alison is Executive and Internal Communications Lead, Google AI / Google Research. UCLA was pivotal in shaping her life’s trajectory! After graduating with a double major in Philosophy and Chinese language, Alison spent eight years working in Shanghai and Hong Kong, doing business risk consulting, PR consulting, and as a program editor for The Economist across Asia. After juggling an executive MBA from Columbia and London Business School, Alison moved back to California in 2015 (her happy place!) and has worked in various roles at Google since. She’s been doing AI communications at Google for the last four years.

Nick Yulico, CFA, Managing Director, Head of U.S. REIT research, Scotiabank

Nick has been a sell-side Wall Street equity analyst since 2008, having previously worked at UBS and Macquarie. His stock analysis focus is publicly-traded REITs (real estate investment trusts). He is currently based in Scotiabank’s New York City office, where he leads a team that covers ~40 stocks and provides investment advice and research reports to institutional investors (e.g. mutual funds, hedge funds, pension funds). From 2001-2008, he worked as a financial/investigative journalist at various publications including TheStreet.com and The Oakland Tribune. He graduated with a BA in Philosophy from UCLA in 2001 and later completed an MBA degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is also a CFA charterholder.
