Meet the Speakers
Richard C. Rybicki, Labor & Employment Attorney, Rybicki & Associates, P.C.
Richard Rybicki works closely with employers, helping them navigate a wide array of tough workplace issues. He offers an experienced and practical approach to developing employment policies and managing workplace conflicts. When conflicts do not resolve, Rick represents management in individual, representative, and class-action litigation. He has represented employers, employer associations, and employee benefit plans in courts and administrative proceedings throughout the United States. He was lead counsel in the first two cases filed under California’s Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”). Rick also practices under state and federal labor relations laws, including union organizing, collective bargaining, arbitration, and hearings before labor relations boards. He is a longtime editor of The Developing Labor Law (ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law), a leading national labor-management publication. Rick received a B.A. in Philosophy from U.C.L.A., graduate and undergraduate qualifications in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, and a J.D. with Concentration in Advocacy from Cornell University. He is admitted to practice in California and before various federal District Courts, Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Sophia N. Sahagún, Associate Attorney, Vedder Price
Sophia Sahagún is an Associate in Vedder Price’s Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s Global Transportation Finance group. Ms. Sahagún focuses her practice on complex commercial aircraft transactions and general equipment finance, representing operating lessors, lessees, finance companies, asset managers, investors and commercial lenders in a broad range of high-value financing and acquisition transactions involving transportation assets. She also advises clients on day-to-day matters such as corporate structuring and general corporate and securities law. Ms. Sahagún received her law degree from the USC Gould School of Law, where she was Vice President of the Latinx Law Students Association and a staff writer for the Business Law Digest. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Philosophy.
