Meet the Speakers

Joann Thach

Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at Trace3

Joann Thach is the Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at Trace3, a technology consulting firm headquartered in Irvine, CA. She oversees the company’s commitment to expanding and supporting diversity, fostering a culture of inclusion & belonging, and developing initiatives that positively impact the greater community. Joann has a long history and passion in advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion. Prior to Trace3, she spent over 10 years leading diversity recruitment, training, retention and corporate social responsibility efforts in the legal and tech sectors. Naturally curious about the world and a life-long learner, she received her undergraduate degree at UCLA in sociology and philosophy and returned as an Executive MBA candidate at UCLA Anderson graduating in 2025, after completing various certifications and programs on Critical Race Theory and Business Management. When she is not working or studying, she spends her time practicing ashtanga yoga, volunteering or cuddling with her Shiba Inu, Chloe.

Austin Chan

Analyst, Stifel’s Public Finance

Austin is an analyst in Stifel’s Public Finance practice. He and his team provide investment banking services to nonprofits and municipalities throughout the United States. Austin began his career at Stifel as an intern in 2022, and joined full-time after graduating from UCLA in 2023 with a B.A. in Philosophy.

Aaron Crafts

Senior Program Manager, City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center

Born and raised in California. Passion for reading (Bolaño, Gaitskill, Pessoa), writing, music (bad guitar, worse singing), and the outdoors (specifically running, and backpacking across the Sierras). After graduating from Morro Bay High School, I attended Cuesta Community College with the intention of being an English Major and writer. Had a chance encounter with a funny-sounding class — “Reality & Knowledge”, which turned out to be an intro to metaphysics and epistemology — and started a love-affair with Philosophy. Attended UCLA for two years, graduating cum laude in 2013 with a B.A. in Philosophy. Two years of applications and GREs before being accepted to a handful of PhD programs; thought better of it and relocated from the Central Coast fully to Los Angeles. Discovered I had a knack for organizational strategy, operations, and helping improve the workplace of my fellow employees, so I fell into “Administration” as a career, which translates essentially to “filling in what other people forget.” Have been working at City of Hope in Duarte since December 2023.
