Cecelia Hernandez Rojas
Credit Risk Officer, Citigroup Corporate Bank
Cecilia was born in Mexico City and grew up in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from UCLA’s Philosophy department and went on to work with Miami Dade County Public Schools as an 8th grade Science Teacher and Instructional Coach, through Teach For America. She served five of Miami’s socioeconomically challenged, predominantly Black and Hispanic schools throughout five years. Though she was part of UCLA School of Law’s Outreach Program—The Law Fellows Program—while she was an undergrad at UCLA, she opted to pursue graduate studies in business administration following her employment in Education. After she completed her MBA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting at New York University, she launched her career in financial services within Citigroup’s Human Resources Associate Rotational program. She received exposure to areas like Recruiting, Compensation and HR Business Partnership—leading her to pivot into Citigroup’s Corporate Bank to be closer to the firm’s core business activities. Within the Corporate Bank—Citi’s corporate lending division—she worked within Capital Management, assessing returns on credit the bank lent to corporate clients, followed by working on internal projects within Credit Risk, and is now transitioning to credit analysis within Risk. Cecilia lives in New York, adores beaches, and is passionate about personal finance and first generation accomplishments. She cherishes her time in Philosophy as one of the most special and formative times in her adolescence.
