Meet the Speakers
Emily Gerrick, Civil Rights & Consumer Protection Attorney at Gerstein Harrow LLP
Emily is a plaintiff-side civil rights and consumer protection attorney at a small firm called Gerstein Harrow. Emily’s docket includes cases challenging police brutality, labor law violations, whistleblower retaliation and employment discrimination, first amendment violations, and wrongful detention. Before joining Gerstein Harrow in 2022, she was a senior attorney and policy director at the Texas Fair Defense Project, where she worked on high-impact cases challenging unconstitutional bail and detention practices. She has also drafted and successfully advocated for major legislation that helped hundreds of thousands of people affected by court debt, driver’s license suspensions, and marijuana criminalization. Emily graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in philosophy in 2011 and from Yale Law School in 2014.
