What were your favorite philosophy courses at UCLA?

Ethics.

Are there any philosophical issues, readings, or topics that have stayed with you since graduation?

My primary area of research is theological ethics and the intersection of violence and war. As an army chaplain, I am particularly interested in the limitations of Just War Theory and the rise of moral injury as a psychological category.

Have you read any philosophy recently that you would recommend?

Theological Ethicists Brian Brock (Aberdeen) and Stanley Hauerwas (Duke) are of particular interest to me, among others.

What was your first job or endeavor after UCLA?

I attended seminary at Fuller Theological Seminary following my graduation from UCLA.

What lessons or skills from philosophy do you use in your career?

As an army chaplain, I am expected to speak to matters of ethics as a part of my profession, and I lean back on my UCLA education in Philosophy daily.
