What was your first job or endeavor after UCLA?

I worked as a graduate assistant for ethics and critical thinking courses at Cal State LA for two years while I was an MA student.

What lessons or skills from philosophy do you use in your career?

I teach philosophy at a community college. Philosophy is a requirement on general education and transfer plans, so my students come from many academic disciplines. Regardless of discipline, I show my students that philosophy enriches their education because it imparts the skills necessary to think in a rigorous, analytical, and independent manner. The precision that goes into understanding a philosophical text allows students to develop deeper levels of inquiry and adopt an approach that values productive struggle. This approach can be applied to problem solving in all areas.
