Research

My research sits at the intersection of many different subfields: ethics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of action, and the lively discussion of moral responsibility and free will.  My recent work has focused on the agency we exercise over our own attitudes, in particular, over our beliefs and intentions.  This interest grew out of my interest in the source and nature of the motives worth having, their justification, and our responsibility for them.  I am currently working on a manuscript bringing my recent work to bear on the problems of free will and moral responsibility.
